Aikido Elements

The above is my image of how Aikido works for me. It is not necessarily the complete picture but it contains what I consider to be the majority of key elements involved with successful execution of technical practice.

In the early years your practice it will be a case of joining the blocks together piece by piece. As one develops, the blocks begin to merge and your practice is more about the three phases. Ultimately, it all blends into one seamless movement (hopefully). At least that is the goal of your journey.

I am sure there are more items to include or consider but I feel the above is more than sufficient.

From the above I have considered the following to be my Aikido DNA:-

1. Centred movement of Tori.

2. Musubi

3. Dynamic Taisabaki, ensuring continued destabilisation of Uke’s centre.
